What Fireworks Are Used For

Fireworks are explosive pyrotechnic devices used for aesthetic, cultural, and religious purposes. The most common use of a firework is as part of a fireworks display; a display of the effects produced by firework devices (devices intended to produce visual or audio effects). Fireworks competitions are also regularly held at a number of places. Fireworks take many forms to produce the four primary effects: noise, light, smoke, and floating materials (confetti for example.) They may be designed to burn with flames and sparks of many colors, typically red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, and silver. Displays are common throughout the world and fireworks are used on most national holidays. Fireworks are generally classified as to where they perform, either as a ground or aerial firework. In the latter case, they may provide their own propulsion (skyrocket) or be shot into the air by a mortar (aerial shell). The fireworks industry is also responsible for advancements in fireworks safety and manufacturing including improved chemistry for creating colors, standardization of sizes, ingredients, formulations, and delivery systems.

When Were Fireworks Invented

Fireworks were invented in ancient China around 2000 years ago. Records of fireworks show in 7th-century Chinese court history. From the 9th through the 14th centuries fireworks were used in war. Such use was relatively limited until the advent of bigger and more powerful fireworks and the first fireworks display. In 1240 a large fireworks display to entertain emperor Kublai Khan was held. By 1364 fireworks were used in the celebration of the birth of a Chinese Emperors’ son, and by 1400 they were part of other palace celebrations.

Fireworks were used as part of festivities marking the wedding day of Khan himself in both 1402 and 1412, as well as subsequent imperial weddings; fireworks themselves form part of many Asian traditions such as those celebrated with temple dances and dragon dancing during the Lunar New Year.

Fireworks Date Back To The 7th Century

Evidence for fireworks dates back to 7th century China when they were invented. The fireworks were hoped to give signals to heaven during worldly events like funerals or significant battles. This would please the God who gave the sign and thus the fireworks were used in many rituals.

Fireworks are also well known throughout Southeast Asia, particularly in Thailand for celebrating Loi Krathong where they usually accompany the festival’s fireworks displays that typically last several hours and are held around November each year. The fireworks are also used as part of Buddhist celebrations.

Fireworks started to be introduced in Europe after 1492 when fireworks were accidentally discovered after shooting at a dry bamboo structure which lead to an explosion. Later fireworks use was mainly limited to grand festivities such as royal coronations or weddings with fireworks commonly being featured at state fireworks shows, often accompanied by fanfares. However, fireworks did not become popular until 1730s France when it became customary to have fireworks following the end of a play.

The fireworks were also commonly used in China during the war because they are so powerful and loud that they may scare away evil spirits or perhaps even shock enemies into submission, or at least cause them to shelter their eyes when hearing the noise. These war fireworks were often much more explosive than what we think of fireworks today, with gunpowder being the primary ingredient.

The Popularity Of Fireworks Has Grown

Fireworks are now considered to be part of similar western festivals such as Carnivals where fireworks are very common in many large cities around the world. The use of fireworks in Holi is another popular example where fireworks are generally launched in order to add color to the night sky by burning brightly colored powders over a crowd in India. The fireworks are also very common at Diwali where the fireworks are, for the most part, fireworks used as entertainment.

When Did Fireworks First Come To America?

Fireworks first came to America by way of Christopher Columbus after he brought gunpowder and other fireworks back with him to share with Native Americans who were already using fireworks like sparklers on holidays like St. Patrick’s Day. Fireworks were also later introduced into Canada via European settlers. The city of Toronto still holds one of the largest fireworks competitions in North America called the Festival of Fire which is held every year during the summer.

Fireworks Have Become The Focal Point Of Major Sporting Events

Fireworks shows have become a focal point during many sporting events including football games or Fourth of July celebrations in America which usually feature grand fireworks displays that can be seen from miles away due to their size and power. Fireworks are also used in many other fireworks shows that are held for special events or holidays including New Year’s Eve and Independence Day celebrations which are celebrated on July 4 each year.

Fireworks In All Shapes And Sizes

Fireworks come in all shapes, sizes colors, and textures with the most common fireworks being fireworks that shoot into the sky like roman candles, bottle rockets, or fireworks shaped like small lanterns known as sparklers among many others. However, fireworks can be made to look like anything players choose to depend on their budget including animals, people, or fictional creatures such as dragons.

The Finale Is Breathtaking

Fireworks displays usually end up with an unforgettable finale where fireworks are shot into the air forming shapes like flowers made out of fireworks or fireworks being shot into a specific pattern to create a firework show that is more spectacular than the fireworks shows that came before it.
